Terms of Use

Who you are dealing with

Talkaside is developed and published by madnessbrains, an independent software studio. All contact goes through Telegram. Installing or using the software means you accept these terms.

The demo

The demo runs for five days from activation. It needs no payment card and no account. It activates once per machine — reinstalling or reimaging does not reset it. The demo is the full application, provided so you can decide whether it works for you before paying for anything.

The licence

A paid licence is a perpetual licence for the version you buy, issued to one person for one machine and tied to that machine. It is not a subscription and it does not renew or expire. To obtain one, write to us on Telegram.

If your hardware fails or you replace the machine, contact us and the licence will be reissued for the new one. Please do not share, resell, sublicense or publish licence files, and do not attempt to defeat the activation or licensing mechanism.

The software is licensed, not sold. All intellectual property in it stays with the developer. You may not decompile, reverse engineer or redistribute it, except where local law grants you a right that cannot be excluded by contract.

Your provider accounts

The software works through speech recognition, translation and AI providers that you sign up for and pay for directly with your own API keys. Those services are not resold by us and are not part of this licence. What each provider does with the data you send it is governed by that provider's own terms, and their availability, pricing, rate limits and quality are outside our control. If a provider goes down, changes its pricing or terminates your account, that is between you and them.

How you may use it

You are responsible for using the software lawfully. In particular:

What the software does not promise

The software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Machine translation and AI-generated answers can be wrong, incomplete or misleading, and speech recognition can mishear. Never rely on this software alone for a decision that matters — legal, medical, financial, contractual or otherwise. Verify anything important with a human being.

We do not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will work with any particular calling application, audio device or provider.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profit, lost opportunity, lost data, or the outcome of any interview, negotiation or meeting in which the software was used. Total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you actually paid for the licence. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Ending the licence

The licence ends if you materially breach these terms — notably by circumventing activation or redistributing the software. You may stop using the software and uninstall it at any time; because everything is stored on your machine, uninstalling removes your data with it.

Refunds

The five-day demo exists so that you can test the software fully before paying. If a paid licence does not work on your machine and cannot be made to work, write to us and we will refund it.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated for future versions; the date at the top of this page changes when they are. The terms you accepted at purchase continue to apply to the version you licensed.

Privacy

What the software handles and what the licence server records is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
